Because Atenas is a small town, traditional accommodations can be limited but we have some great options for clients to choose from.
The experience of someones stay and accommodations can often leave a lasting impression of not only the accommodations themselves, but the town in which they stayed. Here are some tried and true accommodations that will make your stay in Atenas memorable.
Vista Atenas B&B (www.vistaatenas.com ) – Vista Atenas Bed and Breakfast is perched on a hillside in Vista Atenas, the first planned community in Atenas, with stunning views of the valley below.
Located just 7 minutes from downtown Atenas and only 30 minutes from the Juan SantaMaria International Airport, this is the perfect spot to land in Atenas. The owner,
Vera Fouriau who is originally from Belgium, along with the bed and breakfast manager Jonathan Solis will go out of their way to accommodate and make you feel at home. Aquilies, the 4 legged owner/manager will also welcome you with a wag!
The bed and breakfast offers 6 rooms, 2 cabins and one casita. A beautiful dinning room overlooks the swimming pool and sun deck with views of the Poas and Barva Volcano’s and valley below.
Set on over 2 acres, the grounds are lushly landscaped Rates range from $50-$95 per night, depending on the accommodation and season. Breakfast included.
Poco Cielo Resort (www.pococieloresort.com ) – Poco Cielo is set back off the main road that runs through Atenas, a short 5 minutes from downtown and only 30 minutes to the international airport.
Poco Cielo offers 4 rental cabins that are set on 6 acres with a large infinity swimming pool, sun deck and rancho, all with beautiful mountain views. Each cabin is clean and nicely appointed.
Two have full kitchens and the other 2 offer kitchenettes. Each cabin offers a large front porch perfect for having your morning coffee or just relaxing in one of the locally crafted rocking chairs.
High season rates are $85 per night and low season only $75 per night. Breakfast is not included.
Hotel Colinas del Sol (www.hotelcolinasdelsol.com )- Hotel Colinas del Sol is perfect for those wanting to be in downtown Atenas with only a 2 minute drive by car or 10 minutes walk to downtown.
The setting is perfect and set on 15 acres with stunning views of valley and surrounding villages. Hotel Colinas del Sol offers 12 spacious bungalows, large swimming pool, coffee shop, on site restaurant and a tour booking service.
They also offer an airport pickup and drop off service. Room rates range from $50-$100 per night depending on accommodations and season. Breakfast is available for an additional charge.
Orchid Tree (www.orchidtreecostarica.com)- The Orchid Tree is a charming little bed and breakfast located in Rio Grande de Atenas, just 5 minutes from downtown Atenas and only 2 minutes to Highway 27.
The owners, a charming Canadian couple, are amazing hosts who will make you instantly feel at home. The Orchid Tree offers four guest suites, all individually decorated.
A common front breezeway is lined with gauzy white curtains and leads to the large outdoor living room and kitchen, beautifully decorated in a tropical, Bali style. There is a large swimming pool and one acre of grounds that are landscaped to perfection.
A very famous 1990’s sitcom star is rumored to have recently stayed here. The owners offer pickup and drop off service to the international airport. Room rates vary from $70-$80 depending on occupancy. Breakfast included.
Vacation rentals- A great alternative to staying in a hotel or bed and breakfast while visiting Atenas is renting a vacation home.
Many people who purchase a home in Atenas do not live here full time and offer their home for rent as vacation rental home.
These homes range in size from one to five bedrooms with varying amenities. Vacation homes are perfect for those who want a little extra privacy, love to cook at home, and for couples or large families.
Prices typically range from $600-$1,500 per week (7 days) depending on the size of the home and amenities.
