“Hi. My name is Mark Price. I came to Costa Rica in 1999 and bought a piece of property on the spot and thereafter moved down here, met a Costa Rican woman, have been happily wed ever since. Thank you.

I first took note of The Oaks in — somewhere around 2004, 2005 and I saw that the prices were very, very attractive and when I saw the final product built, I was astounded at the price-quality relationship that was established there.

Very, very top quality. The first precursor to any of these things, any of these products outside of town. Within five minutes, very, very easy to get to town and it’s close but not too far, which I personally like. I live here. Very, very nice project, solid project and good valuations.

Heath Barr: Hey, my name is Heath Barr and I’ve moved here from New York about eight months ago just before the peak season. So I’ve been here long enough to see kind of the breadth of tourists that come through and then see them kind of quiet back down again in the Guanacaste area and living out here at The Oaks, there’s a number of things that make it I think a really wise decision for me.

One is that it isn’t directly in one of the given villages if you will. It’s a little bit in between everything. So you feel like all of Guanacaste is at arm’s reach and I think that’s really something that has allowed me to settle in and feel like I’m a part of the local culture.

So from taking off to Villarreal to a soda, for a typical dish, to going to Playa Flamingo for a day on the beach with friends, to going right into the town of Tamarindo and having fine dining experiences and even coffee experiences with people. It’s just an amazing spot to be in.

Another thing I found is that when people say they’re going to come visit you in Costa Rica, they actually do. So I’ve had about eight people come and visit me since I’ve been here in October and all of them have just immediately felt at home the moment they walked into the property here. They felt like they had a space to walk around and decompress. They felt secure and safe and they kind of got how everything again was at arm’s reach and they can go and explore the entire area. So it’s a perfect spot for anybody to buy or rent if they come down to Costa Rica.

Ray Akers: My name is Ray Akers and I’ve been in Costa Rica now about 12 years. I’ve lived in many different locations in the Central Valley including Escazú and I was over and lived in Puntarenas for a while as well. I spent some time on the Western side of Central Valley, over towards Grecia [0:02:40] [Phonetic] and Atenas which we like quite a bit. My wife and I enjoyed that area.

The Central Valley offered some cool temperatures and a lot of business opportunities but it was a little bit of a chaotic environment for us. We were looking for something that was more casual, laid-back, more comfortable, a little bit more opportunity with a little bit less of shall I say competition for the type of company that we had.

Mark Price: As a father of two small children, the school question is of utmost importance as any parent would know. I’m very, very impressed with the quality of the private schools here, in particular Educarte where my children go. There are a few — two other very, very good schools within proximity, 15-minute drive from here, which are equally as good. That is vitally important for a parent coming — moving to any location in particular a foreign country such as Costa Rica.

Heath Barr: I think there are a number of reasons why anybody would want to move here. The nearby airport is Liberia. It’s only about 40 minutes away. That’s about as long as it takes to drive from Downtown Denver to their airport or from Downtown New York to JFK. So that’s all within reason. They’re all paved roads there and back. Transportation is very affordable from and to the airport for your friends and family who are arriving.

Infrastructure is a big thing obviously. So high speed internet was something that I had no problems getting down here. Security as I travel back and forth to the States often. That was a big factor and so The Oaks is probably one of the most secure places in the area to be honest.

They have a huge staff here. It’s constantly being guarded amongst — the front gates to around the property, but very non-invasively. Everybody is very friendly. You feel like you know the whole crew that works here and you know that they’re looking out for your best interest. They know you by name and so I come and go as I please. I move swiftly in and out of the country with no problems and I’ve had no problems doing my business here.

Ray Akers: If I was to plant a single idea in your head, and you were wanting a comfortable place to live up here, something that’s safe, quiet, centrally-located, well-managed, it’s clean, they have a lot to offer with their pools. There are three pools in this place. There are beautiful trees and shrubs and it’s just a very, very nice place and it’s great for small animals as well.

You want to be located in between all the hot spots up here but off the beaten path where it’s a little bit more safe and work with a great staff.

This is a perfect place for that type of environment and for you to feel comfortable with your family, so that they’re secure. You don’t have to worry about something happening to them and investment-wise, I feel that it’s easily by far one of the best places to invest because it has got a consistent type of client that comes here. They’re very good about making sure that they don’t let the wild and crazies in. So you don’t have to worry about your investment not being able to be used at any given time if you were choosing to do so.

The Oaks is a great place. I would choose it again and again and though we’ve looked at other places that are possibly larger, we can’t find anything that will suit our needs like The Oaks.”
