Arenal Canopy Tour Video – Upside down.

I’m not quite sure why the head canopy tour guide chose me, I guess I have one of those ‘dare me’ adventurous type faces or perhaps he just wanted to see how high I would bounce when I fell but when he suggested that I fly down one of the longest stretches of the canopy tour upside down, I thought to myself ‘Why not?”

I have enjoyed quite a few of the canopy tours but never upside down. Of course the other tourists thought I was nuts as I dangled in the air at least 100 feet above the ground trying to get my little camera ready to film the experience but, my two teenagers thought it was ‘cool’ and of course wanted to try something similar …

We were staying at the Arenal Paraiso Hotel which offers reasonably priced accommodations with splendid views of the Arenal volcano.

With 12 platforms of up to 275 feet high, the Arenal Paraiso Hotel canopy tour is considered to be one of the best in Costa Rica.

Safety is crucial and we were pleased to see that they had the best equipment money could buy and well trained guides who fitted and checked our equipment.

The feeling of flying through the trees in a Costa Rica rain forest really is exhilarating and seeing baby sloth feeding at the top of one of the trees just made it better.

The key to going as fast as you can is to keep your legs tucked up into your stomach as tight as you can – then you’ll go as fast as your body weight will allow.
