Atenas Art Show. 4 – 5th December 2010

Atenas, Costa Rica has for many years been known as “The Best Climate in the World”, and with AARP’s recent statement stating that it is one of the best places to retire; more people are experiencing just that. But now Atenas may become known for another reason, the annual Atenas Art Show!

There is a group of people that have joined together to learn the fine art of painting. From all walks of life this group is learning techniques of watercolor and oil. Their instructor, Mary Park, has lived in Atenas with her husband, Graham for 1½ years. Mary, originally from South Africa, made her home in Vancouver BC for many years, where she taught art and orchestrated many art shows. So naturally when she and Graham choose Atenas as their home, she wanted to share her talents.

Her students gather at a local café each Monday for instruction and enjoy each other’s company while creating their own masterpieces.

So on December 4 the and 5th in Atenas at the Catholic Church Hall these students along with some other wonderful artists will be showing and selling their artwork. This annual gathering will show beautiful work, have great company and wonderful food will be available.

This year 10% of sales will be donated to the Conservation of The Leatherback Turtles of Costa Rica.
