The construction crew have been working diligently sealing both the outside and the inside of the house. We are going to use three coats (manos) and as you know this Flood sealant is very expensive so it had better do the job well…

The staircase down from the large front terrace, the staircase from the living room area up to the office and the simple banisters have also now been installed.

All the gutters are in place so when the rains start we should hopefully be protected… Only time will tell.

A lot of the raw materials are being delivered now to begin on the construction of the garage area with the pila and bodega. This will be a fairly simply project and should not take too long, weather permitting.

This weekend we have to run out and buy the toilet (inodoro), all the door handle mechanisms (llavínes), electric wall sockets (tomacorrientes) and start buying the light (lámparas)…

Fortunately for us, this weekend there is a sale (Especial de iluminacíon) on at the large EPA hardware store in Escazu so hopefully we can pick up a lot of what we need there at reasonable prices.

Next week the bricks for the fireplace should also be delivered. We are using the exact dimensions as specified by the Brick Industry Association in Reston, Virginia so hopefully we won’t see the usual wild and wacky freestyle chimney that you would normally see in this kind of a home in Costa Rica.
