Careers in real estate are far removed from where Nadene and Roland first embarked on their previous careers. Nadene graduated as an X-ray Technologist in 1977 and continued to work in that field for nearly 20 years. While in her early 30’s, Nadene returned to college and hit the books again to obtain a diploma in Business Administration with a major in Marketing.

With her studies complete, Nadene then obtained a position in the Sales Department of Frigidaire Canada, an appliance manufacturer. In 1995 she ventured out on her own and started a computer training company that she ran for over 10 years. She then moved on to join her husband as Bookkeeper/Manager of his trucking and warehouse business.

While all this was happening Nadene and Roland were also busy purchasing investment properties throughout Western Canada. In 2009 Nadene changed course yet again to pursue her current career as a real estate agent in Costa Rica.

Roland owned a successful trucking company for over 30 years where he was responsible for delivering appliances to retail stores as well as to onsite construction projects. Roland soon added warehousing to the business plan. With a large contract from Pitney Bowes, the business grew into a multi-faceted company that also assembled and distributed photocopiers and mailing equipment throughout all of Alberta and South Eastern BC.

This particular facet of the business also involved training the client in the operation of the new equipment. The business was sold in 2006, from which point on Roland joined his wife in pursuing a career in real estate in the beautiful country of Costa Rica.

Roland and Nadene are proud to be located in the Guanacaste area that is just starting to buzz with activity and growth. With new businesses and hotels being announced weekly they believe this growth will be a continuing trend for many years to come.

They attribute a good portion of this growth to the influx of baby boomers looking to retire and casting an eye towards Costa Rica as the perfect location to spend the next 5-10 years.

Many baby boomers are temporary residents, choosing to stay only 6 months of the year in Costa Rica. This opens up new opportunities when those properties become available to rent during the owner’s absence. New hotels and businesses need staff; and the staff will require a place to live. This is keeping the pressure on the rental property market, especially for long-term rental options.

The listings that Nadene and Roland have in their portfolio include condos ranging in price from $75,000 to $300,000 with a wide variety of units fairly evenly balanced between those two ranges. They say that plenty of homes can be found in the $200,000 to $300,000 price range and lots are available starting at $25,000. Developers are starting to search for the perfect investment opportunity with development parcels going from $1,000,000 to $12,000,000.

Nadene and Roland believe they are uniquely qualified to help their clients because of their education and experience with properties in the area. Their extensive business background aids them in the entire buying and selling process from start to finish.

Over the last few years, Nadene and Roland have managed to net over 140 sales between them, with each deal adding to their skills and experience.
