We fell in love with the natural beauty of Costa Rica on our family vacation in February of this year, and entertained thoughts of purchasing a property, either as an investment or for personal use.

I bought numerous books and researched extensively, and decided eventually to purchase a property in Santa Ana in the the Central Valley.

On my second trip to Costa Rica this past month I met with Scott Oliver, as well as his Recommended Realtor who picked me up from my hotel and drove me to a number of developments I had earmarked from my research on Scott’s website – WeLoveCostaRica.com

These communities were all west of San Jose, but close to Escazu a magnet city for many expatriates. With Scott and the Realtor’s input I finally selected a condo in a gated community in Santa Ana.

I felt there were a number of factors that made it the best choice for me. It’s climate is warmer and drier than San Jose’s and the property is surrounded by verdant mountains.

I felt Santa Ana’s location was ideal as it borders Escazu, and therefore is very close to the Multiplaza, Hospital Cima, and the Plaza Itskatzu with its Outback Steakhouse catering to my American palate.

The airport is close and the Pacific is about 90 minutes away for someone who wants to see the beach. Lastly, the development is close to the Forum business park, which should make it easier to rent if I should decide to do so.

I found Scott Oliver’s knowledge of the Costa Rican real estate market invaluable to me, and I suspect that without his help I would still be on the outside looking in. I would also recommend attorney Jose Rafael Fernandez, who looked over the purchase contract before I signed on the dotted line, and has provided me with information on the formation of an offshore corporation.

I am looking forward to completion of construction of our property in the beautiful Costa Rican town of Santa Ana.
