Costa Rica Crime Is So Terrible That ….

[custom_script adID=149]

  1. I have never been mugged and nobody that I know personally has even been mugged.
  2. None of my homes have ever been robbed including a vacation home that I have in the country that is totally and completely unprotected with a barbecue, six tables and chairs outside with half a dozen garden tools, wind chimes and dozen boxes of ‘stuff’ that people could simply walk off with if they wanted to…
  3. My vacation home also does not have bars on the windows.
  4. My apartment building does not have bars on the windows however, like tens of thousands of other people, since I do travel a little I do live in a very secure, gated condominium.
  5. My car has never been stolen or vandalized.
  6. My bicycle has never been stolen.
  7. Nobody has ever stolen my passport or my cellphone.
  8. I have never been in a fight or had any violent act threatened or performed against my person except for Gringo real estate scam artists who have repeatedly threatened me. The closest I have come to physical violence is when I wanted to beat the living daylights out of someone, a despicable French cretin who allowed his large and vicious dogs to scare the daylights out of my white-haired, five foot one inch old Mum.
  9. I have never been kidnapped, neither has anyone I know personally. Although we have all read about numerous kidnappings of American children by their American parents…
  10. We’ll leave you with one last word from ‘GringoTico’…. “Costa Rica is different, and that’s why we love it. Don’t make yourself a target, and you have no reason to fear for your safety in this very non-violent country.”

In the last eleven years, I have experienced no unpleasantness with the Costa Rican people, the Ticos and it’s sad that the most unpleasant situations I have come across have been with foreigners living here but, I can’t blame an entire people – North Americans – because of the actions of a small group of ‘professional’ scam artists selling ocean view land without the ocean view.
