Costa Rica – Home of the Big Mac That Squawks!

We’ve been adopted by a beautiful Scarlet Macaw – Big Mac – who flew in Friday morning and doesn’t want to leave.

We feed him bananas, mangoes, crackers and sunflower seeds. He loves company and will sit with us on the gazebo or in the grass in the front yard.

He’s been here one day and is already territorial. I included a picture of the Keel Billed Toucan above that “Big Mac” chased off this morning.

The neighbors German Shepard wanted to play with Big Mac, and he didn’t fly away, he just opened his beak real wide and “Comet” backed off!

We wish you were all here to share this unique wild experience.

He is a very cool guy! Every time he takes food from your hand, he gets it organized in his talons and then says Squak-Squak which we interpret as thank you, before he eats!
