Before you get too excited though, it is important to remember that most Costa Rica jobs will require you to be:

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish and…
  • All legitimate employers will require that you are legally allowed to work in Costa Rica, which means if you living in Costa Rica as a ‘tourist’ – Don’t bother applying!

La Nacion is the largest and certainly the most influential newspaper in Costa Rica even though we only write about jobs in Costa RIca from time to time, we’ve inadvertently helped some of our VIP Members to find jobs here:

Thank you so much for publishing WeLoveCostaRica.com! As someone who’s planning to move to Costa Rica in the near future, I find your service to be priceless.

Not only has it helped me to line up interviews for Costa Rica jobs prior to my arrival, it has also provided valuable information on what to expect once I arrive. And I love the easy site navigation, not to mention the friendly service. Keep up the great work!” Sean Johnson, USA

If you plan on contacting anyone by telephone, there is only one area code in Costa Rica which is (506). Please also note that you may not get an immediate reply that your email has even been received. ‘Ticos’ are not the most conscientious when it comes to returning telephone calls and replying to emails.

Please also bear in mind that Costa Rica salaries will NOT be what you may have become accustomed to in the US, Canada or Europe. For more information, please see: Salaries In Costa Rica 2010.

If I were you, follow the instructions in the advertisement to contact your potential employer and do not assume that a potential employer has received your email.

Unfortunately Costa Rica is on the naughty boy list of many Internet Service providers in the USA because many of those idiot spammers have been sending out millions of emails from Costa Rica.

For example, many AOL users have problems receiving emails from Costa Rica for that reason, they are often blocked.

All Costa Rica job advertisements reproduced in this article appeared today 16th October 2010 in La Nacion:

  1. Amazon.com which aimed to hire 300 full time staff announced previously they would need 400 part time staff for the busy Christmas period.
  2. PayPal continues to hire in Costa Rica.
  3. Western Union is looking for various accounting and analyst positions.
  4. While Bank of America fires people in the USA, they continue to hire new staff in Costa Rica.

Yes! Business is good in Costa Rica…

If possible, follow up with emails and telephone calls to ensure they received your resume. Many of the advertisements do not include a telephone number but, in this wonderful internet age, you will probably be able to find it easily enough.

The process of hiring someone in Costa Rica may not be the same as as ‘back home’ and again, you need to remember that most positions will only be open to legal residents of Costa Rica who are allowed to work.

However, if you are the ideal candidate for a Costa Rica job then it is likely that your new employer will do everything possible to ensure that they get the correct immigration papers for you.
