Culture and Entertainment Living in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Dinner and a show at the beach for only US$39.95
Not long ago, Tamarindo was a small rural surfer’s camp and not much else. Who would have thought that less than a decade later it would be served by an airport and that dinner theatre would be one of the many entertainment options?
Next month the first dinner theater production, “The Odd Couple” will open at Fisch Restaurant in downtown Tamarindo.
The Mixed Nuts Theatre Troupe, an offshoot of the Beachnuts Theatre Company (http://beachnutstheatre.org/) is lead by Paul Belanger. Paul is well known in the area for his popular past productions including Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, Wizard of Oz, Scrooge, Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin.
A native of Canada, Paul has acted, directed and performed in over 200 productions in the last 30 years.
He will be playing the sloppy and casual Oscar, whose side-kick, the anal-retentive neat freak Felix, will be played by Rick Cassorla, who began his career in Scotland, performing for the Princess Margret.
After heading to the United States Rick starred in hits like “Charlie’s Angels” “Bay Watch” and “8 is Enough”. Directed by award winning producer Joy Weber, The Odd Couple is sure to be a hit.
Joy spent a decade filming hundreds of commercials for numerous Fortune 500 companies, the Super Bowl and World Series, the Academy Awards and the Republican and Democratic campaigns.
She worked with some of Hollywood’s best, including Tom Cruise, Sylvester Stallone, Henry Winkler and Bette Midler.
The Odd Couple will open on March 9th at Fisch Restaurant. Tickets can be purchased at Jaime Peligro Book Store. (http://jaimepeligro.tamarindohomepage.com/) The cost is $39.95 and includes a three course dinner.
