Okay don’t blame me for this post; I posted this after I polled members of our message board as to whether we should based on Roberts Rules of Order http://www.robertsrules.com/ I received a motion passed so I was forced to do it:

Advice for Margie Davis from one of our members:

    Margie Davis,
Here is an answer to all your problems. There is a place called Ft. Mac Alberta. The oil sands there are comparable to Saudi and the US and China are extracting the Oil faster than the Canadians can actually develop the City. The Oil Industry in Western Canada is mostly men. They all move there because of the $$$. I am here to tell you you will not have any problem there. The men just dont care who, or what you are! They just need women. The ratio is 11-12 men per women

On a bit more serious note, Ms. Davis, have you tried going to the places and doing the things your target gringo would do? You mention looking attractive having coffee, and networking with friends as an “available” woman. Those might work in the sexually charged yet Puritanical US, but CR seems to be a bit different. From my three trips there, I would suggest that you need to check your “game,” and be sure it is not predicated on a setting or situation from the US that no longer applies in CR.

Lots of women in the US have gotten lazy, since, relative to CR, the US is a female utopia, with hot and cold running men, oversold on sexuality by the culture and media. You may need to become innovative to find what you are looking for, or simply find that you are like the oil workers in the first post – with the odds overwhelmingly against you.
