December 13, 2011 at 5:15 pm #162119AndrewKeymasterI believe they’ve made an offer for the entire region of Guanacaste and it’s an all cash offer… Should help with the country’s deficit!
But seriously I have no idea…

December 13, 2011 at 8:37 pm #162123Disabled VeteranMemberWhy Costa Rica……why not Nicaragua. I purchased a beachfront in Costa Rica, to get away from all the superficial people and aspects of American life!
December 13, 2011 at 8:44 pm #162124maravillaMembermaybe YOU should’ve moved to nicaragua! jejeje first it was mel gibson, now the pitt family. who’s next???? as long as you live in a beautiful place, all the plastic people will want to live there, too!
December 13, 2011 at 11:00 pm #162125alewisMemberWell, just be still my heart——
December 14, 2011 at 1:49 pm #162126Doug WardMemberWait until he finds out his electric is higher than anywhere in the US. With his money it makes no difference but it sure was a shocker for me. Plain stupid.
December 14, 2011 at 2:26 pm #162127smekulyMemberit’s funny but having these celebs bring attention to costa rica only brings unwanted awareness here. which is good if your in the business of selling real estate as I am sure all the Realtor will be adding this to their sales pitches
but it sucks for people living here.
on another note
having the kind of money these people have… boy oh boy
what options they must have
since that is really the true function of money

optionsthats my opinion
it’s not the mansions cars.. all the materialistic garbage
but real optionsDecember 14, 2011 at 5:46 pm #162128DavidCMurrayParticipantA classic definition of poverty is that it is the condition of having few or no options.
December 15, 2011 at 5:37 pm #162129smekulyMemberDavid
good definition.
its much more apparant with the penetration of consumerism for lack of a better word
20 years ago
costa ricans seem more happier with less
it was almost like they were happy yet not having anything or knowing that they needed anything. so they work a simpler less ambition lifestyle
nowadays
the cats out of the bag
and now ticos seem to be running around buying shite on credit because they want to have that ipod
or that flatscreen tv
or that new iphone..
so what they are paying 2x what it costs because they are making payments
i just left pricsmart today it’s a thursday 10:30am
and the place was packed
and everyone was walking out of the place with the extended shopping carts full
hundreds of dollars
and here i am buying a few items
asking myself where the hell do all these people get this money lol
buy buy buy..
it will be interesting to see costa rica 10 years going forward
December 15, 2011 at 6:05 pm #162130maravillaMemberthey don’t have any cash. they are paying with credit, as they have been encouraged to do. in ten years’ time we will have a debtor nation here, if it isn’t already. they will go the way of the US where the new stat claims that one in two people in American is considered poor!
in any store i watch to see how ticos pay for things and it is invariably NOT with cash but with a credit card, not even a debit card, so they are on that slippery slope. . . .
December 16, 2011 at 2:27 pm #162131cler5MemberWhat in the world is the matter with you people? Movie stars, celebs, etc. have every right to visit, buy, etc. in CR. You could only hope (in your dreams) to meet them & know them. How small this makes a lot of you look. Wow!
