I’ve come across a vehicle I think I would consider should we make the move to Costa Rica. You can see it at the following link.

The double cab version brand new is under 20K. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge or any other opinions on this?

Why a front cab flat bed?

Is this for a commercial application?

A friend has one and I will check with him tomorrow, when we take him to the airport.
Not much space in the back, as I have squeezed in there, and I am small….

To 2BNCR & CRFinca- First of all thanks for the replies. I guess you could classify my interest in this as “most bang for the buck.” For not much money by CR cost standards, I’d be in something brand new, warranty etc. The double cab version seems to have a huge back seat, so picking up visitors at the airport, heading out to Xmas time fiesta etc. would not be a problem. ( CRFinca- I’m assuming you were talking about the single cab version )

It’s not for a commercial application, but there will be times I’m sure when the flatbed will come in handy. The key seems to be it is a commercial vehicle so I think the duty is much lower, thus the purchase price is under 20k. It is a 4×4 so I think you both know there are times on the Nicoya when that can come in handy. Now I know the ride and driving etc. won’t be the same as a new Hyundai, Toyota or even Kia SUV, but again for the money I’m thinking I’d have all the bases covered.

No, I meant the double cab! There was very little leg room in the back, and I do have short legs. I know there was some things, which is too be expected that our friend didn’t like, but I can’t remember what they were….
As I said, I will ask him tomorrow.
He lives where the roads are just about non-existent and definitely some of the worst roads we have ever been on.
We don’t visit him much…. …unless we are on the ATV.

Well, I grilled our friend and he has no regrets about purchasing one, 5 years ago. He hasn’t needed to take it for any repairs, and the brakes are original. He doesn’t use it all the time, but felt it has held it’s value by what he has seen on ‘Craig’s list’.
He thinks the price will be nearer to $25,000.

CrFinca- Thanks for your work and the review. During my visit last week I ran into a guy in Tamarindo who had one that he had just purchased. He said he paid $19,000. The link I posted shows 2 double cab models and one has a turbo diesel engine and larger tires etc. Anyway I’m still intrigued and I’ll look into it further on my next visit. Thanks again.
