Does anyone on this site have any experience with finding assisted living in Costa Rica, or any recommendations in regard to any particular place? I am bringing my mother-in-law with us on our next tour in the hopes her breathing difficulties will improve due to the better air in Costa Rica. She may decide that living in CR is a better bet than trying to cough and sneeze her way through life in Texas and I would like to be able to research this topic a bit before we arrive in June. Thanks!
Very little choice in offered regarding these facilities. What is available, is not inexpensive and is staffed by caring, but mostly Spanish speaking staff. What there seems to be, is nothing like what is offered in North America.
Realize, that she would be covered by CAJA but not by the private insurance policies offered here.
I have discussed this HUGE opportunity with developers for a decade but clearly nobody has agreed with me that it is a HUGE opportunity since none of them have built anything…
There is very little choice at present, having said that there is a growing number of companies who will provide home care (probably best to stay in the Central valley area though) which would probably suffice in your case…
Google “costa rica home care” and you’ll find a few …
Best wishes
Scott
