Bamboo furniture

We will need to furnish our home in a couple months. Any info or recommendations for furniture stores for quality bamboo or wicker (or a Costa Rican equivalent of wicker)?

There are at least a couple of manufacturers/sellers of wicker furniture in Sarchi. On the autopista between the Naranjo and Palmares exits, on the south side, is a manufacturer of bamboo furniture. And there’s a guy who advertises in Tico Times who manufactures bamboo furniture.

We looked into having a wicker dresser made a year ago by one of the Sarchi places. We thought it was very expensive and passed.

In San Ramon, and on the main street from San Ramon to Puntarenas, you will see MANY bamboo furniture stores….and many bamboo trees as well !!! I bought a table with glass top and 4 chairs there for 200$. Was it expensive ? I thought it was a good deal.

There is a place in Perez Zeledon (near San Isidro de General) that is like a bamboo furniture factory. The name is Sur Bambu S.A. 771-3756. I got three large nice bookcases with doors, a custom piece for under our stairs, and nice “banker style” bookcase with glass for $600. It was a fun place to go as they will make just about anything you want. Most of the rattan I’ve found here is very pricey, it’s difficult to find a good deal.
