We have been looking for a used SUV since we got here last month. 18 out 20 cars I checked had missing VIN plates, or the VIN characters were wrong.

I had guys tell me their cars were 2000s and the VIN showed them as a 97… he then tells me Nissan made a mistake when they installed the VINs.

After running a Carfax background check 17 cars had the odometers flipped back. I am convinced EVERY car dealer in San Jose flips the odometers. Where do I find an honest person to sell me a freakin SUV?

Lookin for a used Pathfinder, 4Runner, or Montero Sport.

I knew I had to be careful purchasing a car here, but this is beyond ridiculous!

If you do a search on this site you will find a very good article written by one of it’s members. Interestingly enough they draw the same conclusion as you, though I believe they offer some advice on where to look. It seems the issue is that these used car dealers get these cars from the US after they have been written off as salvage by the insurance company.

I bought a new car (Toyota RAV) upon arrival in 1999 and I’m still driving it ….

Thanks for the info. Buying a car is turning out to be as time consuming as buying a house 🙄

I bought a Nissen Pathfinder last year from an agent in San Jose. I was very pleased with how everything turned out. She does all the leg work for you. Send me an email at randy@cbnorth.com for more info.
