Looking for input about what is available in Golfito.
We are building in Manuel Antonio, and have heard many times that Golfito is our best bet for getting the best prices on kitchen appliances, such as oven, stove, fridge etc.
Because it is rainy season, the trip down could be pretty rough going, so we are hoping that there is a way to know what is available, specifically as far a s brands and models.
Any way of knowing this? We won’t need the appliances for a couple of months, but we want to design our kitchen based on what we can get.
Are there “high end” brands such as Wolf ranges there for example.
One person told me that they believe that the same stores that we find here, or in San Jose, are represented in Golfito, and so we could shop one place, and by in Golfito.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.October 6, 2010 at 10:10 pm #169107juliabMemberI suggest you search forums for “Golfito”. There were several threads with all the info you’re looking for.
In short: no, there are no “high end” brands: mostly the same as in major appliance stores “Importadora Monge”, “Gallo”, etc. Said that, we bought small “Samsung” fridges that we haven’t seen in any regular stores.Expect savings of around 25% after all the expenses (hotel, gas, food, delivery of goods), can be more on luxury items or a bit less on cheap ones.

I used him years ago for our house and the same for our office. I have referred many people to him and they all have had positive things to say.

Thanks.[/quote]Here’s a good link to info about Golfito. We went down in Sept. There are some good deals on the same stuff you see in the local stores. This website includes phone numbers, so you can call the stores and inquire. Our trip to Golfito was an adventure and I will go again. http://www.depositodegolfito.com/
November 16, 2010 at 4:56 pm #169110sueandchrisMemberThere are, in fact, high-end appliances available here in Costa Rica. BUT, and this is a BIG but…..I don’t know that they can be obtained thru Golfito. Check upstairs at the Play store on the pista. They have an excellent selection and attendant high prices for that selection. If you crave a Wolf range and can’t obtain it thru Golfito, this might be an option.
November 16, 2010 at 6:31 pm #169111dboyMemberJust an update. The number for David is +506 8361-0408. It is in Costa Rica. He’s been a little tough to reach, but you can always leave him a message.
November 16, 2010 at 7:25 pm #169112DavidCMurrayParticipantSue, a person bent on owning a Wolf range or Sub Zero refrigerator might also do well to see what one can be had for in the U.S. and have Arden Brink of http://www.shipcostarica.com bring it in for you.
Either way, nobody said “cheap”.
November 16, 2010 at 10:19 pm #169113costaricafincaParticipantWe checked both of these items a few months ago for friends and the Wolf range was going to be over $10,000 and the price was also very high for the fridge. They ended up purchasing a commercial 2 door fridge & 6 burner stove from TIPS in Liberia.
