Apologies for repetition but cannot seem to locate information/contacts for agency that sell/import fully prepared and licensed vehicles to operate in CR.

I seem to recall couple of recommended people who do this for expats here. All the work was done for you once you provided them your requirements etc.

    Any leads?

    Thank you

    I’m confused . . .

Are you looking for someone to import a car from the U.S. for you, a car you already own, and get it through the bureaucratic maze, or are you looking for a source of cars already here and ready for you to purchase?

If it’s the latter, then you should know that there is one new car importer for each brand of vehicle sold here. That includes some brands that are not imported into the U.S. And there are literally dozens of used car lots. Grecia, where we’re located, is the used car capital of Costa Rica with about three dozen such businesses.

All those cars that are available for sale are fully inspected, taxed and ready to transfer to your ownership.

A word of caution: Some private parties will offer to sell you a car they do not own. They’ll have a power of attorney from the legal owner to sell it. Only the power of attorney is fraudulent. Run like the wind! This is a common way to sell a stolen car.

I think you are referring to Russ Martin. There is an ebook on the site somewhere.

Actually I was thinking there was a small company that acquire vehicles based on how much you want to spend and what type you were seeking. Then they import them from Korea or USA and do all the research, taxes, mechanicals and registration then charge a few hundred dollars for their service.

Hmmm . . . I may (may) know someone who will do this for you. You could send me a message by clicking on my profile to the left.

i know several people who have used Jackie Moncel (not sure about the last name spelling) to procure a car for them which they picked up on their arrival in costa rica. they told her ahead of time how much they wanted to spend and she found them the car(s).

Yes thanks for that contact, her name is Jacqui Monacell, sounds like she provides a good service from what I see on her website.

I buy cars in the USA at 50% of wholesale and I go thru them. Like I have this Foed Minivan that runs like a top year 1998 cracked windshield for $500. I was told if I have a car try to find one that is dented a bit and say it needs repairs.
