We have received an email from our immigration lawyer, with our residency in progress papers. We don’t need to leave every 90 days because of our visas expiring…BUT we need to leave to keep our drivers licence valid…DUMB

After changing the ownership of our home from 50% each, to 100% in my name, they accepted the house purchase as a proof of an investment acceptable for investor residency. Today we will go back to lawyer and put the shares back into 50% each…which is fine with immigration Sort of a weird way of getting around things…but I guess that’s how things work here.

Now…another strange twist regarding police reports…as investors we do NOT need to provide police reports to immigration. Even though we had them done, we didn’t need to submit them. SO….if you have a criminal record, running from the law, just purchase a house that’s acceptable for the investor requirements, and that’s all you need.

But remember that once you have your cedula in hand, you must then wait until your visa is out of date, before you can apply for your drivers license…
While you didn’t have to provide the police report, your information and fingerprints will still be checked through Interpol

The other day, just after you posted the info on your experience when looking at vehicles, that I read… I think it was on the La Nacion website… where it was announced that a new business had opened in La Uruca, where it will put a used vehicle through a thorough search for VIN, odometer checks, previous owners, etc and will perform an inspection similar to what Riteve does, for $100.
I have also heard that it is better to look in Grecia for a vehicle.
