I realize a tourist must leave for 72 hours after 90 days in order to get a tourist visa renewed. And I understand that a car coming in to the country with a tourist has to leave the country after 3 months or the tax and duties will be due. I also understand a tourist can extend the vehicle’s stay for another 3 months. I assume this the case for people who are in the process of getting legal residency.
My question is, does anyone know FOR SURE if the vehicle is driven out of the country for 72 hours can it come back in for another 3 months along with the tourist without paying the taxes and duties?
Thanks,
You need to talk to a lawyer about that. Never go on hear say when dealing with the laws here. In Costa Rica people do a lot of things, these are things that are practiced but they are not legal.
So just because one person has done it does not make it legal. Some people I know personally have done just that and were successful but whether it is legal is the question.
