What is the best deal on car rental in Costa Rica? Planning on a May trip. Is May sorta the off season? I notice that it has rained alot and been warmer this winter than I would have thought.

In some areas we have had no rain for months! This is typical weather for the Caribbean side.
May is going into the rainy season, so rates may be lower.
Stick with the main rental companies Alamo, Thrifty, Dollar, Avis, Hertz, Poas, Toyota Rents, etc. Newer cars, better condition, fewer disappointments. Also, I definitely recommend 4WD if you are getting off the beaten path.

I have consistent good experience with National Car rental. Not picking the car up at the airport will save you something like 13$ of the rental cost. If you stay at a hotel the night you fly in, National will bring the car to your hotel and you save 13$ in taxes off the entire rental period. National has a good selection of all types of vehicles.
I thought there was a sponsored car rental company?
