On Oct. 8th Inside Costa Rica posted an article…. “October 8th, 2013 (InsideCostaRica.com) Costa Rica’s Central Bank has raised the ‘ceiling’ of the dollar exchange rate to ¢800.5, but don’t expect any immediate change in the purchasing power of the greenback” As usual, no indication where BCCR posted this info and of course no link available and no idea as to the identity of the author.
The reasoning stated for this action was to increase exporters confidence in the future. Kinda strange as the BCCR lately has been buying colones to maintain the floor at $/500
I’ve checked the BCCR website and found nothing. Maybe someone who knows more about this can provide some insight.
