Since CR is the recipient of a lot of financial aid from China, I wonder if the announcement that China is widening the yuan’s fluctuation band against the US dollar, will effect the CR economy ?

Costa Rica’s domestic currency is the Costa Rican colon. The exchange rate against the U.S. dollar and the euro varies from day to day but for the past year and a half or so, it has hovered right around $1US = c500.

As for Chinese yuan, I can’t help.

I have not seen any publicity about the opening of a Chinese bank in CR and I imagine it would be difficult to locate any place here that would exchange that currency. Perhaps some of the more financially savvy members know more about this subject.
