We are taking our first visit to preview CR and search for a home. I have bought Christopher Howards CR book and see that he offers a comprehensive 6 day tour of the country.
Has anyone used this service and is it worth it? If no – can you reccomend a better one?

You just gotta’ take a look at the video interview with our friend George Lundquist at
George offers a tour for the “non-rich” and we’ve heard great things about it …
Please let us know how you get on …

We took a tour with George last year, and I can personally highly recommend him. We didn’t have time for his normal four-day tour, so he customized one for us that was two days. Lots of good information and advice, and a great contact to have in the future when/if you decide to move to C.R. Just be aware that four days or even six days isn’t really enough to get a “comprehensive” tour of C.R. for the purposes of deciding where you want to live. There’s just so much variety in terms of climate, terrain, proximity to larger shopping areas, etc. that you may not find you have enough information after one trip to decide. It took me three trips to decide on the Tilaran area — just west of Lake Arenal as my future residence…
In January, 2005, we, too, took George Lundquist’s four-day tour of the Central Valley. Like several others we’ve met, we felt it was the best money we could have spent and would recommend it to anyone thinking of relocating here.
It’s my understanding (maybe not current) that Christopher Howard’s tour includes the two-day seminar that the Association of Residents of Costa Rica puts on for prospective immigrants. If that’s so, you could join ARCR and attend the seminar without having to be constrained to the sole choice of Mr. Howard’s tour.
I’m from Costa Rica so I don’t think I need a tour of the Central Valley, but I’m very curious as to what this tour is like. Could anyone briefly explain to me which areas Christoper Howard visits with their clients, how long is the tour, how much does it cost, what the price includes, etc.?
