Ever since I first came to Costa Rica I have heard stories of construction companies over pricing, shoddy workmanship, workers without proper tools and theft of personal tools.
Although I was charged three prices to get my property cut for two months I have since had good luck in getting things done right and at a decent price.
We have part time neighbors who visit about three weeks every six months or so and I agreed to take care of the property for them. While they were here last October I recommended a father and son who had built a concrete wall for me to rebuild a driveway for them. The father found full time employment and the son finished the “work” and the driveway fell apart within 5 months.
First the driveway needed to be redone completely, then the roof started leaking and the septic system started overflowing.
After interviewing and getting bids from 7 contractors and recommended workers I finally found a group of workers who I felt confident could do the job at a decent price.
Thanks to questions I asked here I got a handle on what needed to be done, how it should be done and why. These guys had the right answers to all my questons and my neighbors have a rebuilt roof, a new driveway and a working septic system and I have carpenters, an electrician and a plumber I have confidence in.
Thanks to all of you.
