Cost of land maintenance/gardening?

We ‘encountered’ problems when we opted to choose a small [i]Tico[/i] firm to to totally renovate ..as in take the main story off…a small house, instead of the purchasing a sliver of land alongside two pieces of property we owned, to gain power to one of the pieces of land that the architects father tried to sell us, [i]in the middle of nowhere…[/i]

We live near Lake Arenal and hire local workers for c1,200 to c1,300 an hour, although I usually throw in something extra. It may be more expensive in the central valley or on the coasts.
