Thank’s everyone for your help. Trish you can forward it to me whenever possible and David thank you and I will contact the architect you referred me to. I am still in Canada and I’m jumping the gun a little bit but I would like to get the architect that I want before I move down there so I can start right away. I will contact all of them and chose the one I feel most comfortable with.
Thank’s again, Daisy
I don’t think you can choose an architect over the phone. You wouldn’t choose a doctor over the phone. You would do a lot better to contact these people when you get to Costa Rica and meet with them face to face. There may be some people with whom you are simply not compatible personality-wise, and if you do not speak Spanish well enough to sort out what you want and how you want it, you will run into some boondoggles. Nelson Banfi does not speak English. It was a real challenge for me to deal with him; thankfully I had someone who did most of the translations and I muddled through a few meetings with him on my own. Nelson is kind of the Frank Lloyd Wright of Costa Rica, and about a year younger than God. But those things aside, he’s a very good architect, but you’re building in Jaco and that may pose a problem. I won’t be able to check back into this board until the end of next week when I get down to Costa Rica and find his number. However, if Jose is reading this, maybe he could get you this info before I can. And yes, Jose, we have lots of nieve and I haven’t been warm since September, so I can’t wait to get back home to Costa Rica. Hasta pronto!
