Can anyone suggest where to buy citronella plants/grass or the other plants that Waggoner41 suggests? The dry season is coming to Guanacaste, more time outdoors, more time for mosquito bites. I’ll be in SJO next week, and I am looking to buy plants soon for planting before the end of the rainy season.
Gracias,
Contact the Ark Herb Farm and ask if they carry Citronella plants. They tend to be hard to find, and are often just passed between neighbors… and you need quite a few plants to keep those pesky insects away.
Also try these: Ageratum (grows wild here) Marigolds, Catnip, Beebalm, Cleome. Try planting some garlic, too…

You might try the viveros in Orotina. From what I hear you can get almost anything.
