I hate to leave such a totally vague post, but here goes: I recently looked at a site where small cottages were being built and sold for around $75K US (don’t get me started on the dollar 🙂
Anyway, I believe it was on the Nicoya Peninsula. If memory serves, they were lots of close to 1/2 acre and there was one bedroom down and one in a loft of sorts. They were quaint, but nice, new, and 10 minutes from the nearest beach. I want to say that they were around 850 square feet in size. I sure wish I bookmarked the site. Does anyone recall anything similar? Again, please accept my apologies for being so vague.
Regards,

Realistically, what would $75K US buy as far as a nice, little vacation place down there? That could be in the Central Valley or further West, where it’s a little warmer. Close to the beach is nice, but not necessarily mandatory.
Thank you again for all the great services you are providing. Personally, I can’t wait to get a chance to see Costa Rica in person. It’s more of a preparation for finding somewhere “nice” to live, if we eventually chose to move abroad. For now, I’m staying in the US as my “home”. I’m running for state office next year in Missouri on the Constitution Party ticket. We’ll see what happens 🙂

The property is in Guanacaste around Playa palada. Nice but not easy to get to. The bungaloos are actually about 15 minutes away from the beach and the site is questionable. Anyway I looked at it just two days ago that’s why I remember it. good luck with the constitution Party thing. Maybe you can restore the Federal government after you make it in Mo.

That is just out of Parrita in the Central Pacific area. In regards to the price point you are talking about that is being advertised, I think the most important thing to keep in mind is, “you get what you pay for”, and that truism could not be more true than when it comes to construction here in Costa Rica. There is a development near us that has gone from $79K to $129K in one year on their smallest home which is only 680 sq ft. It’s a similiar bungalow type house with one bedroom and a loft. I have been through the first one they completed and the quality of construction is not very good in my opinion.
