Costa Rica mail and Customs.

My wife and I live in Jaco where we have a PO box. I went to the PO the other day only to find a notice of a package. Fine.

But the lady at the desk said that I could not get the package here since it was in customs at Puntarenas. She said I would have to go to customs in Punarenas to pick it up.

Absurd. Most Tocos said it was ridiculous and that I should not have to go there. Any suggestions/comments? Anyone else run into that prob?

This is not uncommon.

You did not mention what type of product that you bringing into the country but if they feel that you have not paid the necessary import taxes – “absurd” or not – they will hold the package until you have paid.
