This maybe more for Scott as he seems to post most on this subject. We are getting conflicting information about salaries. We are trying to hire office staff (under “executive secretaries”) but are willing to hire at Bachelors level, which are at just under 400,000 colonies per month. The question is does the benefits below come from that 400,000 or is this in addition to the 400,000

Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social 22.00% (9% withheld from employee)
Fondos de Capitalización & Pensiones 3.00%
Aguinaldo (Xmas bonus Dec 1 to Nov 30) 8.33%
    Vacation pay 4.61%
Dias Feriados (Long weekends with pay) 1.92%
Preaviso y Cesantia (Termination pay) 13.80%
    INS Workman.s Compensation insurance* 2.00%

Do you know of any other expenses for Employers?
Also, my understanding is that employers typically pay at the published rates to start employees, do you believe this to be true?

    Thanks!

Please note very carefully that Costa Rica Labor Law is NOT simple…. And if you screw up, the consequences can be severe.

I would strongly encourage you to NOT do this alone and speak with a Costa Rica Tax expert…

We have a whole section on the site about Taxes in Costa Rica which you can see at:

I’m sure that Costa Rica Tax expert Randall Zamora would be happy to take this headache out of your hands for a very reasonable fee…

That makes logical sense, I just sent Randall an email through your site.
    Thanks
