We are having a dental fiesta for some children in Dominical in Feb………..we will be bringing in about 75 to 100 tooth brushes, paste , floss and some used baby clothes that may be valued at $ 300.00 or so. We are coming from Canada and don’t need any hassles from customs and certainly we don’t want to disappoint the children.
Any information would be appreciated.

Chances are you’ll have no problem at the San Jose Airport. They’ll x-ray your bags as you’re leaving the baggage area… and none of the items you mentioned should show up and creating any interest on the part of the customs officials. I’ve been through with TONS of stuff for the house and friends…. and have never had a problem. If possible have a receipt of some type to show if asked (it doesn’t even need to be for the items you have) and above all… smile and be polite. You’re going to CR to do something nice… so don’t worry about a problem.

I would split up the large quantity items among all my bags. And I always play stupid and pretend that I speak no Spanish. It seems to speed things along.
