I am moving to a home in Dominical in December. What internet capabilities exist in the area?
There are a few options:
1. ISDN: only available to locations close to Dominical or Uvita central
2. Skylynx: available to most locations on the coast and immediate mountains. I have this service installed in my office and 4 locations for myself and my business partners. Cost: $2000 deposit and installation, Monthly: $120+ depending on bandwidth.
http://www.skylynxcostarica.com – based on land based towers.
3. Dr. Dish: http://www.drdishcr.com/
4. CR Satellite: http://www.crsatellite.com/
It seems that HughesNet could give Skylynx some competition in CR. They dominate the satelite based internet market in US for those of us that live in the “country” outside of metro areas with no DSL or cable availability. The central valley is the only place I have found true high speed internet.
