Don’t worry about the pothole problem on the highway toSan Jose. If you live on the west side of the valley, drive or take a taxi to Belen and ride the train intoSan Jose. It costs about $1.00 each way.
The 1st morning train arrives in Belen at 5:45 am and thereare like 5 trips to San Jose every morning. The 1st train from San Jose in the afternoon arrives in Belen at 4:15 pm and the final train at night arrives in Belen at 7:20 pm. The train ride to and from San Jose takes about 40 minutes.
There are several public parking lots to securely park your car within a block of thetrain station located in the center of Belen caddie corner from the catholic church.
Positive thinking can be a good thing Tom but as I’m sure you know, this highway has 100,000 cars per day travelling down it and reaching Belen is probably not easy for a lot of people.
The bad news is this pothole is big and will take more time than they think to repair. I for one will not be going to ExpoCasa today because I simply can’t stand traffic…
The good news – as you can see from the image below – is that the Tico sense of humour is still there!

The info about the train from Belen was to advise folks who live on the west side of the valley about alternative transportation to and from San Jose. If someone has an important meeting or doctors appointment in San Jose, they can easily get there in the train without the hassle of driving on the problematic highway.
