We bought a “down alternative” comforter at Cemaco in Alajuela a while back. Frankly, their sheets leave a lot to be desired and were expensive. Were it mine to do, I’d try to find what you want online or have someone in the U.S. shop for you.
The other alternative, depending on just what you mean by “. . . decent bedding at an appropriate price.” would be to see what PriceSmart has to offer. Actually, their bulk bath towels, while not luxurious, are pretty decent.
There was a Bed, Bath and Beyond in Paso Colon. I didn’t go in but it looked just like the same store I’ve seen here in Florida. I have shopped this store in the US and although the prices aren’t cheap. they aren’t over the top expensive either.
Thanks…I will try Multiplaza Cemaco and visit the other ‘department’ stores while I am there to see what they offer. I did find to my amazement some sheets at our local Pali for a very decent price with a beautiful design. I noticed that Walmart in the States had this set for a lot more money…SCORE!
