    Hi Gang,

I will be moving back to CR in June. I was wondering if any sports clubs or groups have sprung up recently or if there are any old ones that I don’t know about. Anybody have any contacts or know somebody that I should ask?

The reason I’m asking is because I love to play basketball. I think the Costa Rica Basketball Federation changed the rules so that internationals can’t play. And whenever I try to get Costa Ricans playing, the game always breaks up into a football match.

So, if there aren’t any basketball groups meeting, would anybody be interested in starting one in the Central Valley? Write back!

    Sincerely, Matt, mvblair@yahoo.com

    Hey Matt,
I was playing inline hockey in Parque de la Paz (SJ) on the weekends til I blew out my knee. It was good fun and somewhat organized. There is an outdoor concrete rink in place. Damn hot in the sun, but a good workout.

Don’t know about the b-ball. I know another guy who plays (league or pickup?), but I think it was south of San Pedro at some college. All indoor. I’ll see if I can find out more.

I’ve also seen in Tico Times an ad for the “Badminton Club”.

    Hope that helps,
    J

    J,

I’d love to play league, pick-up, or scheduled pick-up! I just want to play ball and get some good excercise.

I know where a few courts are, in Barva and Santa Barbara, but when people show up, they play basketball for 10 minutes and then start in on football. Heaven help me, I just can’t get into football. 🙂

If you do ask around and find some people who play, I’d be really grateful if you’d put me in touch with them.

Say, when did you blow your knee? Are you looking at a good recover?

    Thanks,
    Matt
