I am having a very hard time getting an answer to this, if anyone has gone through the rentista status, maybe you could help.
We are trying to beat the Aug 12th deadline and it looks like we will have all the documents ready by then. Do we have to have the finger printing done in CR before submiting the application to the consulate? If we get all the documents in except the finger printing before Aug 12th will we be grandfathered in???
Angela
The fingerprinting is an integral part of the application process for residency. Without it, your application is incomplete and certain to be rejected.
Dave’s right. We just made a mad dash to CR last week to get my husband fingerprinted before my immigration hearing on May 11. Without them, no application is complete and don’t count on anything being grandfathered in.
The finger prints are only taken at the police headquarters near Centro Comercial del Sur, this is in San Jose. As our friends here said, it is an essential part of the process. I believe their office is open until 4:00pm or 3:30pm. Traffic will be an issue when getting there, so make sure you leave home with plenty of time. If you are familiar with the neighborhood you can get there via Parque de la Paz. I know a couple taxi drivers that work with inmigration lawyers that can get you there, if you need assistance let me know, if I could I would take you there myself, but since I´m tied up at the office all the time I will just point you in the right direction.
