June 28, 2009 at 8:37 pm #196740trishMemberBrian, we are using as we speak intermoves SG Global SA—-www.intermoves-SGCR.com Jose Antonio Sueiras general mgr CR#506-2258-0018 or US#305-395-3230 Very happy so far with them, for extra $100 they will bring your personal effects 35meters from your home unpack, put furniture together and you do not have to go to san jose to customs….it is taken care of, you pay half up front and then rest after recieving goods….GOOD LUCK and hope this helps Trish

June 29, 2009 at 3:21 pm #196742DavidCMurrayParticipantWe used SG Global four years ago and were very unsatisfied with the experience. Not only were they not at all businesslike but a number of things “disappeared” from that part of our shipment which was stored in their warehouse. Maybe our case was the exception, but it is not a chance I would take again.
June 29, 2009 at 4:20 pm #196743BigBMemberWhat I really need and can not find is someone to handle animals being imported and exported out of CR.
Thank’s
BrianJune 30, 2009 at 2:21 pm #196744jassueMemberHey TRISH, thanks for the note, we´ll look into them.
June 30, 2009 at 4:28 pm #196745DavidCMurrayParticipantIf you’re looking for a service to take care of bringing your dog(s) or cat(s) (at least) to Costa Rica, try Animals Away! Do a Google search. They took very good care of us in 2005.
There are other such companies with worldwide service. You can probably Google “pet transporters” and get a list of websites.
July 4, 2009 at 4:01 pm #196746jassueMemberTrish, looked into them and they seem to be in order, phone talked to their GM, Jose Antonio and sounds like a straight forward man in with correct linnings.
I was always in shipping also and now retired, it is not easy having to deal with all kinds of people I take mostly in his line shipping. Having moved/relocated several times in my life, I always wanted to hear what I wanted to hear and wanted that to happened, so disolutioned sooo many times. Learned to best pay good attention to what the sales person says and weighed in, because if it sounds to good I´ve learned there may or must be something wrong.
In my conversation with Jose, he talked the correct stuff as I experienced while others talked and talked with a lot of empty wholes.
Keep me posted as I´ll do to the others intersted.July 25, 2009 at 4:48 pm #196747jassueMemberTrish, we are getting down to details on what mover to use, have you concluded yours with these people at Inter Moves?

August 15, 2009 at 9:05 pm #196749jassueMemberTrish, talked with these guys at Inter-Moves, Jose Antonio the GM about your comments and he said to me that your shipping cost went up once because your shipment increased in volume, plus that your move was extremely tight in budgeting and they did not pack, rather they just collected your shipment from your house and took care of the shipping as they collected it. He showed me some pictures of the shipment in their Miami warehouse before shipping. He said they even refunds some money to you from the import duties that were a bit over calculated, hey he showed me the check stub. This I´ve not heard of before, refunding!
