Fun events Central Valley area in May/June

WeLoveCostaRica friends — my wife and I are coming to CR in mid May thru mid June for a 2nd “due diligence” visit.

I will be working (I am 100% tele-worker) for the first week then we will be doing a due-diligence tour with GeorgeL.

Then we have ~3 weeks to “live” in the area and explore where we want.

We have a house rented in Atenas and are renting a 4×4.

So, I am looking for cool places to visit or fun events to attend. Not looking for the real “touristy” things (zip-lining, etc…) so much as more local/community type of things.

Anywhere from like Quepos up to Arenal. Looking for local celebrations, fun events, celebrations, etc… More “local” flare and flavor as much as possible.

Also – how realistic is it to drive up to Rincon de la Vieja and visit there? I’ve heard some great stuff about the park.
