Greetings Imxploring,
I could not agree with you more, and I respectfully disagree with David’s assessment of the care at the VA. Because of my service-connected disabilities and the costs thereto, I only use my private health insurance half of the time. I use my private health insurance for non-service connected medical issues. In my opinion, and with my experience with the government VA health system; government health care leaves much to be desired. My fellow vets that claim that the VA health care is the best in the country, must not have private health insurance, or believe the government propaganda. The difference between private health care and government health care, is like night and day. The VA has also been in the headlines lately because, VA employees were distroying vets medical records, trashing vets medical records, schredding vets medical records and hiding vets medical records in boxes and files; which were found by whistle blowers years later. If this is how our government treats vets that fought and became disabled because of comabat, how do the average americans think the government health care system will treat them! I would prefer a government voucher program, wherein I can visit any private doctor. Government health care, is truely a failed system.
soldier, I’ve made it abundantly clear that the mass media have reported that veterans are generally satisfied with the VA health care system, not I. I am not an eligible vet and, having had no experience with the VA’s care system, am in no position to express satisfaction or dissatisfaction with it.
And, like you, I would prefer a situation in which all of us, not just vets, have total freedom of choice in selecting our medical care providers. And I think it could be done more simply and maybe more economically than anything that’s been suggested.
David,
I stand corrected, in terms of what I thought was your assessment of VA care. VA medical care and health care in gerneral, has made vets, including myself, super sensitive. Thanks for the feed-back.
