Will be retiring to the Southern zone in the not-too-distant future. We will be in the Golfito area on our next trip and we were wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to browse the duty free zone as a non-resident? We would just like to get an idea of what’s available, pricing, etc. in advance. Thanks.
Yes you can browse but can not buy, we were able to put a deposit on a couple of air conditioners and come back and pay when we picked them up. while you are there go ahead and get the ticket so you can go back within the 6 month period if you plan on buying in that time frame. You do not have to have residency to buy just have to have your passport so they can put that in the computer system and get your ticket.
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if you need to have the ticket to browse? If I’m not mistaken you need to go the day before to get the ticket and then can shop the next day. We really just want to stop in and browse same-day if possible.
You can browse without having a ticket, you do need to go and get a ticket sometime before you want to purchase. The ticket is good for 6 months before it expires and then you will need a new one. If you are moving here within that period of time, I would go ahead and get one and save yourself a trip. You will need your passport!!!
