Hi Everyone,

I will be visiting San Jose soon and would love to find a couple of hand painted sinks for my bathroom. I’m not looking for the bright Mexican tile look – more the subtle bird/flora/fauna kind of look. Can anyone give me a heads up as to where to begin my search? Thanks in advance. Faye Davis

There is a store opposite the Alta Hotel (on the old road between Escazu and Santa Ana) that offers hand painted sinks.

I bought one for my vacation home with a quetzal on it which you can see at: [ https://www.welovecostarica.com/members/2222.cfm ]

ConstruPlaza has them as well. i saw some with orchids and heliconias and birds, but that was a year ago or so.

FYI – It’s the exacts same product, ConstruPlaza (bloody awful service) gets them from the store I mentioned …..

and probably cheaper, too. they really were beautiful and i wish i had gotten one of those instead of schlepping down a solid travertine sink!!

They are a reasonable price at the ConstruPlaza, and about half of what they are charging up near Tilaran, when I saw them there. I once saw a beautiful pedestal version at ConstruPlaza with the pedestal painted to match.

Scott is correct. The store across from Hotel Alta is the one that actually makes and paints these sinks, vases, lamps, etc. If you find them elsewhere, they originally came from this source.
