Hi Scott…
Are you able to ‘block’ this troglodyte?
Free speech is one thing; rude, uninformed, inflamatory and demeaning commentary is quite another.
Thank you!
June 12, 2008 at 12:53 am #191199jamesgoshen4MemberSoflodoug…it is great that you start this thread but then you jump on a soapbox and start talking about how you are a man’s man with these girlfriends and that you have checked yourself out for STDs. If I was a stud they way you make yourself out to be I wouldn’t be surfing on the Internet and making a sly comment to someone who responds to your post.
June 12, 2008 at 2:19 am #191200soflodougMemberSorry, just defending my fellow man. Dont settle in life, get what you want.
June 12, 2008 at 10:12 am #191201fortunecookieMemberHow do you manage to have “about four girlfriends”? Sounds like BS to me. Your just pulling a number from your bum. When I first read your responses I laughed. Almost comical, are you serious, or just stirring the pot. Was one of your “almost girlfriends” that cow your so angry with? Marvilla had it right when she offered the clarification of latin women running the house without the man realizing, because she also make him feel powerful. It can be a great balance, and you can see many asian relationships follow the same course. No one is whipped in my house, thanks for asking. My husband is great and make great decisions for our family, to bad you haven’t had the same sucess. It seems a woman really hurt your feelings, because you are one angry dude. You are airing lots of issues and displacing them on others as “thats your problem, not mine”. I bet these angry words towards the women on this board are things you never got to say to someone who hurt you. I feel sorry for you now.
June 12, 2008 at 10:23 am #191202soflodougMemberI am again going to be totally honest, the way you talked in your other posts I tought you were a man “scary stuff”. Im also flattered that you think my life style is bs,at least I still know something that you cant figure out,im patting myself on the back,”good job soflo” Thanks for the reply

it saddens me to say.. but i have to agree with many of the things that soflodoug states regarding the relationship crisis in the U.S.
relationships with women have become more adversarial.. than anything else.. and one of the things i love about costa rica.. is that women are women and are not tainted by all the poo poo mentality that goes on in the states..
after living here for many years now I can state this for the record
” I would never ..ever…ever…ever…never..lol date an american woman”
and also for the record.. im a handsome financially successful business man.. that never had problems attracting women in the states.. its just that
there is no comparison.
no what about those yankees lol
June 12, 2008 at 11:29 am #191204harlonMemberPS.. by the way.. I have been happily married now for 4 years with 2 kids.. i have a lovely loving young tica wife.. that takes complete care of me.. and she takes care of our home.. as i completly take care of my family.. i never cheat… no need.. got all that out of system in my younger days..
June 12, 2008 at 12:42 pm #191205maravillaMemberHey, Harlon, you’ve got a good thing going there. Good on you! But for all the reasons you and soflo won’t date american women, I have similar reasons for never having dated American men!
June 12, 2008 at 4:16 pm #191206harlonMemberim sorry maravilla
but do you still live in the US or do you live here??? because if you live here.. a womens pickins is not that good
i have had 13 over 40 female american friends over the past 6 years.. move back to the U.S because they could not find a good man here..dont get me wrong.. alot of american men are also wankers… so i dont blame you.. heck being single is not all that bad.. especially if you have many friends..
June 12, 2008 at 4:48 pm #191207maravillaMemberI live in Costa Rica but still have a house in the States. I spend at least 6 months a year in CR. Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about being single because I am happily married to a lovely Italian aristocrat-artist-chef-renaissance man, and thank goodness, too, because the gringos I’ve met in CR would make me take a vow of celibacy for life!! All my single girlfriends tell me about the wankers they meet. I’ve told them over and over again they have to start giving them the MMPI before they have a real date!
June 12, 2008 at 11:08 pm #191208harlonMemberlovely Italian aristocrat-artist-chef-renaissance man
now thats a great description… but does he like baseball LOL
June 12, 2008 at 11:42 pm #191209maravillaMemberIxnay on the baseball (praise be to Jah!). He’s crazy in love with soccer and formula one racing. What else would you expect?
June 17, 2008 at 4:45 pm #191210rebaragonMemberWow…this does seem reminiscent of the Diego days—no need to get nasty with a whole gender or population to express you prefer Latin women. The women you will meet in Latin America will have certain characteristics, but they are human all the same and that means they will also be blessed with various personality types, motivations, and individual characteristics all their own. That said, I do think that the initial question by soflodoug is quite valid and important. Anyone interested can find information on this site below and it should not come as a shocker that larger city areas and near universities there seems to be higher stats than in more rural areas, but don’t become complacent, this may only mean that people there haven’t sought out care or diagnosis. Heck, check out Acosta’s stats with higher incidence than some city areas! I really think that if you’re sexually active, you need to do what is necessary and responsible not to contract nor ‘share’ STDs with anyone, no matter where you are. It is interesting that there does seem to be more stats about people with syphilis in CR than with TB!
CR has been very diligent about having diagnostic procedures, promoting condom use w/billboards & thru education thru NGOs in spite of it being a Catholic State for a long time so I would venture to say that there is a lot more info for anyone interested in checking the Internet or stats from Ministerio de Salud (Health Ministry)
Latin American cultures are notorious for avoiding the use of condoms and this does not help the situation. If you have adolescents with you, please make sure they don’t fall prey to a false sense of security that could cost them their lives or their fertility.
2006 Pan-American Report on Health in CR: (including STDs—not the complete range of diseases but it should give you a basic idea)
