Greetings all…just wondering if everyone carries house insurance? Does anyone go without? If you have it and had to use it, was it a long drawn out process?
    TIA 🙂

The problem if theft is involved, you have to prove it … and this is often, impossible.
Your tools, unless they are individually mentioned, are not considered part of your household goods and this is often what is targeted.
You can get earthquake and fire insurance, though.

Yep – had a friend who was burglarized to the tune of $10,000 worth of tools. Sorry, your policy doesn’t cover tools. Tools are ‘commercial’ property not personal property.

I can understand earthquake insurance though. And liability, especially if you hire someone – a housekeeper or gardener – to work at the property. My understanding is that CAJA doesn’t cover injuries at work. Sounds like a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ thing. If your employee won’t tell…

INS is required for workers, not your household insurance.

Though I said that. Not homeowner, liability.

    Yes. No. Yes.

My experience (like earthquake damage) is you pay out of pocket to fix any damage and if your are lucky you will get about half back in 90 days from INS.

Going through it again right now after last Sunday’s shaker.

    🙁
