I write this in reflection of Scott’s article on sustainable power sources at:

I pose this question, for I don’t know the answer. I know not what makes up the water and electrical infrastructure in all of CR but was told once that seismic activity could easily foul all of Lake Arenal and thus disrupt the water supply and hydroelectric plants. It would not be a man made disaster thankfully, but disastrous just the same.
A major earthquake or a major volcanic eruption (especially from nearby Arenal) would certainly make a mess of the quality of the water.
It would certainly be a disaster for us but, should those same “Acts of God” also happen near a nuclear plant, I’m assuming no matter how well it was built, the potential “fallout” would a lot more severe, wouldn’t you think?
