I was out of the country and returned after the 31 January deadline.
I just went into the local BCR (Samara) where I have paid the tax each year since inception, with the completed D-179 form in hand. It is the only form I have used in the past and the only one I can find on the Hacienda website.
I was told I do have to pay, but they can not accept the D-179 form.
Does anyone have any advice? Is there a different form for late payment?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Here’s the response I received from our Costa Rica Tax Expert Randall Zamora:
“The Luxury House tax must be filed using the ATV system, there is no option to print the return, once filed it can be paid online or print the form and go with the bank, but it has to be the form printed from ATV.
The Tax Administration issued an authorization for the banks to take printed forms but it may have expired by now. On other hand, the late filing fee must be filed and paid separately and the same day the tax is paid, some interest for late payment will also apply over the tax liability.

PS. You should double-check with Randall to confirm but I ‘think’ he normally charges $250 for filing luxury property taxes for his clients.
