your site is very helpful and i thank you. i am one of those who is interested in retiring to your incredible country. i have scheduled 10 days there in august. since i must choose a working retirement, that is where i need some advice. i am a used boat wholesale dealer and exporter who now ships to europe and new zealand, as well as selling to a network of dealers in seven states in the u.s. i am getting to the age where i need to slow down and enjoy life and spend my last few years in peace with friends and loved ones. my reputation is well-established and unquestioned here in florida for the last 25 years. anyway, i have all these contacts and sources for a lot of late-models boats of all sizes, am experienced in export, so i thought i would see if there is any demand for these, so i could live there and bring in a few boats ever so often to cover my cost of living. i also have extensive auto wholesale contacts for all late model average to high-end autos, trucks as well.
am i thinking along the right lines? i sure hope so. any feedback would be appreciated and i would gladly buy you a beer (or several) upon my arrival.
thank you in advance, jack
You will find a lot of information about this topic in this forum if your use the ‘search’ facility.
“If” you qualify to live in Costa Rica as legal resident and wished to buy and sell the odd boat and car once in a while, I don’t think that you would get into too much hot water with the Costa Rican immigration officials.
If you plan on selling dozens each month then life could get complicated for you. You do face stiff competition as well as numerous bureaucratic barriers importing and selling any product which will make life complicated for you.

scott,
thx for your prompt answer. yes, i intend to do only a few about every 3 months or so.
on an as-needed or as-requested basis. i do not wish to go full time by any means. i wish to keep life simple.
tell me, what do you mean “if” i qualify to live there? i typed it in the search engine but got no matches. can you send me to where i can get the requirements?
much obliged, jack
Jack
Please search for ‘residency’ in the forum and you’ll find hundreds of postings… The residency requirements are constantly ‘evolving’ as they are in every other country.
