Good morning,
I’m trying to do a wire transfer and they say that they require an IBAN for the Banco Nacional de Costa Rica. If you know it, could you, please post it? I tried googling it, but can’t find anything.
Thank you,

When we wire money we use a SWIFT number, which of course I cannot find at the moment but if it helps have the following phone number for Banco Nacional, I believe it is for the Tilaran Branch but they should be able to help you the number is 011 (from the US) 506 212-2000.

Unfortunately the SWIFT number is not enough for that bank. I’m in CR at the time and trying to send money from the President’s Choice bank in Canada.
Did anyone ever wired money using that bank? Can I use SWIFT number as the IBAN number?
Thank you,

Thanks

February 14, 2007 at 4:37 pm #181705juliabMemberI already went there and talked to several people including manager. All of them say that IBANs don’t exist in CR. Are you saying that IBANs do exist in CR?
Thx,
JuliaFebruary 14, 2007 at 5:11 pm #181706AndrewKeymasterHmm! For some reason the URL did not copy and past correctly and of course now I can’t even find the English section…. .

Thanks everyone,

It sounds lik one of those impossible situations, billions of dollars are wired all around the world daily but when you need to wire your however small portion of that, it is impossible. We have had the same problems wiring money between the UK and USA! Hope you managed to find a solution.

So have the bank put in the account number that the money is being wired to where it asks for the IBAN#. I have wired money many times and that is how it works.
February 14, 2007 at 8:24 pm #181711ssureMemberHow much does it cost to wire money from President’s Choice Bank in Canada to Banco National in C.R.? What are all the charges on both ends – if you don’t mind telling me? I have money in that bank but have never tried wiring it and am wondering if it’s a better deal than I’m getting from the other guys.
Thank you
February 14, 2007 at 10:02 pm #181712genn789MemberHi, IBAN doesn’t exist here, use your 15-digit bankaccountnumber. BIC: BNCRCRSJ (Banco Nacional). Did several transfers from diferent banks in Europ, no problem….!!!
Your money will not get lost in space…February 14, 2007 at 11:55 pm #181713juliabMemberThanks everyone!!!
The solution was very simple. I found a person in that bank who said I didn’t HAVE to provide them that number, but there is a chance that the money migh not get to my CR account. She (the rep) says that if I’m comfortable with that, she will do the transfer for me. I’ve done several transfers before without IBAN and everything went just fine.
FYI: The fees for PC is 20$ + cable fees.
Thank you again,
