Would a 80 lb Doberman work ??
No, it’s too difficult to get a Doberman to adhere to glass.
December 4, 2009 at 1:46 pm #162583opabhMemberYou’r right 80lb is to heavy, But will they steel the dog and the radio ??
December 4, 2009 at 2:05 pm #162584costaricafincaParticipantTo hot for the poor dog to be left in the car…
December 5, 2009 at 5:44 am #162585redelvisMemberVery true… that would be one “hot dog”.
(Sorry, I have a kid so my sense of humor is becoming somewhat simple…) 😳
December 5, 2009 at 1:47 pm #162586maravillaMemberthey would poison the dog and then steal the car.

Any car imported into CR must meet the standards for the year it was brought in.
I doubt your El Camino will pass 2010 standards. It needs catylitic converters and the whole bit.
The Beemer might if it’s a diesel.December 5, 2009 at 2:25 pm #162588F.A SkippyMember
they would poison the dog and then steal the car.
WillemDecember 5, 2009 at 10:28 pm #162590sueandchrisMemberWhat an appalling remark about Latinos…why would anyone holding those views be on a Costa Rican forum?
December 5, 2009 at 11:02 pm #162591opabhMemberMy statement was not directed to LATINOS Only to the people that enjoy steeling, I was in France and had my rental broken into in Paris, I am glad i bought the extra insurance.
That is all i am saying . I LOVE Costa Ricans the most friendly people on this planet. 😀December 5, 2009 at 11:38 pm #162592sueandchrisMemberWillem: My remarks were directed at “Skippy”. I agree with you about Costa Rica and its citizens.
December 5, 2009 at 11:49 pm #162593jtd2MemberHow about a steering wheel that can be removed? You just take the steering wheel out when you leaving the car and put it back when returning to the car. I’ve seen it done on race cars, don’t know if that can be applied with a regular car.
Some thieves, they drove around in a tow truck. If they see a car that they like, they will load the car directly into the tow truck…
December 6, 2009 at 12:11 am #162594costaricafincaParticipantSure a lot of inappropriate comments being posted recently…
but some are ignored and others removed.December 6, 2009 at 12:58 am #162595DavidCMurrayParticipantjtd2, I’m afraid your idea of a removable steering wheel would be a technical challenge due to the built-in electronics, control wands and air bags.
In the end, if the thieves want your car or its contents badly enough, they’re gonna get it. The best you can hope for is to make it difficult and time consuming and maybe to get ’em to go elsewhere.

Sometimes reality can be a tough pill to swallow…. petty theft and dead or poisoned dogs are unfortunately something many folks have had to face in CR. Since Ticos look at dogs, and all pets for that matter, in a much different way then gringos do, it is a common situation.
